BRIAN SHAFFER IS STILL MISSING.
On the night of Friday, March 31 2006; Brian Shaffer, a 27 year old 2nd year medical student at OSU went out with friends to have a few drinks and celebrate the beginning of Spring break 2006. Brian and his friends are seen in the surveillance tape at 1:15 am outside of the Ugly Tuna Saloona. Brian is seen again at 1:55 talking with two girls at the top of the escalator. He appears to say 'bye' and turns towards the bar, he then disappears from the camera's view. He has not been seen since.
Whereabouts Unknown
At around 9:30pm, the men headed to the Ugly Tuna Saloona, a bar located near the OSU campus. At 9:56pm, Brian called Alexis -his girlfriend- who at the time was visiting her family in Toledo, OH. He told her he loved her and that he would see her when she came back to Columbus; the two had planned on taking a vacation to Miami and were scheduled to leave for Florida on Monday, April 3rd. Shortly after talking to Alexis, Brian and his friend walked down to the Arena District in Columbus, OH; they stopped at the North Short Tavern and then went to Brother's where they met with other friends. One of the friends drove them back to the Ugly Tuna Saloona, where they are seen in the surveillance tape at 1:15 am. The next time Brian is seen on cameras, he was outside of the Ugly Tuna, at the top of the escalator, talking with two girls; he appears to say 'bye' and turns towards the bar, he then disappears from the camera's view and has not been seen since.
The Search and Investigation
Numerous searches have been conducted including the construction area by the Ugly Tuna Saloona, numerous locations close to his disappearance including help from Texas Equusearch and numerous search agencies in the Ohio area but to no avail. At one point, the police were looking for an individual seen on the escalator (the man with the orange sweater) - this has been ruled out and not considered linked to Brian's case. Conversations have been had with the 2 girls who were outside the bar speaking with Brian but they were not able to provide any additional information to help locate Brian.
A reward of up to $25,500 is currently been offered for information leading to the whereabouts of Brian R. Shaffer.
Anyone with information about Brian's disappearance can leave an anonymous tip at 1-877-645-TIPS (8477).

Thank you for such a wonderful site to compare all of these missing college students. I pray that God will provide the answers to these cases, as it is clear there are way too many. Too many families missing a beloved son. Too many empty seats this year at Thanksgiving. I pray that Brian will come home and pray that God blesses Randy, Alexis and Derek.
ReplyDeleteQuestions that need to be asked. I'm sure the police have asked many of these questions already.
ReplyDelete1) Why did Brian return to the Ugly Tuna Saloona? Was he to wait for someone there? 2) Whose idea was it to go back? 3) Was the decision to return made at Brother's? 4) What if any phone calls were made by Brian or his friends while he was with them? 5) What if any phone calls were received by Brian or his friends while he was with them? 6) Who made these calls, if any? 7) Were any calls made from or to a pay phone?
I'm sure there are innocent answers to all these questions, and, consequently, none have any bearing to this case.
But I'm equally certain that some of these questions can be asked of other cases involving persons directly or indirectly connected to the missing or deceased. Moreover, these questions should be of particular interest to those investigating someone going missing from a party rather than a bar or tavern. I mean, how does Smiley get into a party or even know there is one? Or does random chance in all these cases account for the opportunity of the killers to commit these crimes? Certainly some could be explained as random. But all of them?
☺🔫🔪 the pay phone is a good idea......... ..
Delete3 victims that had visited the same bar is quite a coincidence.

ReplyDeleteI sent pictures of 2 girls for them to look at.I have not heard back from law enforcement. They call themselves the Happy Face Killers
ReplyDeleteHope this isn't a duplicate, but just trying to figure out the site.
ReplyDeleteReferring to the Cable TV Channel "BIOGRAPHY" it had a special on Brian with psychic kids. They impressed me as picking up something that's left dangling - i.e., a blond who didn't want to talk but knows a lot more about the case. This needs to be researched further. Also, it's unlikely he left the club; if he was murdered, his body could still be there in some crevice, in an elevator shaft, under the stairs, some tiny dark place. Sounds like the search was sloppy. I'd look up those kids and get them back on the case. And this time, follow through.
This case sounds too much like the killers who leave a smiley face at the site where the body will be found.. They target single men, mid twenties, athletic, usually guys out with a group of friends and at some point during the night he separates from the group to be alone for any reason and that is when he disappears. He is usually found by a body of water.. Too many markers are familiar with the previous cases of the smiley face killer(s)... This is not a one or two victim case either. There have been many men that have disappeared with the same M.O.
ReplyDeleteFour years after Brian Shaffer, a med student at Ohio Stae University, went missing, law enforcement is still searching for answers. Shaffer was last seen April 1,2006 at the Ugly Tuna Saloona Bar.
