Eric Peterson is still missing.
Eric Peterson, 24, was last seen on Jan. 19, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Peterson's father says his son had showered at their Lakeville home before heading to
Bloomington around 1 p.m. to meet up with friends. It is not clear whether he made it to see his friends, but he never returned.
Peterson's vehicle was found on Jan. 21 at 1:30 a.m. by Bloomington Police abandoned in the parking lot at the Aquaport located at 11199 Lyndale Ave., near the Minnesota River. The car was locked and Eric's wallet, car keys, and cell phone were on the front seat. Police and his family are concerned for his safety.
They have no information as to why Peterson is missing.
The Bloomington and the Lakeville Police Departments together conducted search operations in the area around the Aquaport.
Eric Peterson is described as being a white male, 6'3" tall, brown hair and brown eyes. He has a long scar on his right arm that starts above the elbow and continues down the back side of his forearm. He has a tattoo on left shoulder which depicts a playing card hand of all 4 Aces, with the Ace of Spades foremost. Underneath the cards it says, "Ace of Spades."Eric usually wears carpenter blue jeans and a t-shirt.
If you see anyone or hear anything that might help investigators, please call the Lakeville Police Department at (952) 985-2800 and speak with Detective Adam MacDonald or Chief Thomas Vonhof.

ReplyDeleteWhat's an 'aquaport', like another name for a dock or something?
ReplyDeleteBy 'all his valueables in his car' is it refering to the basics like wallet, cell phone, etc, or is it really like all of his valuables?
the aquaport in bloomington is like "air-port" but for the river? there is a parking lot and a sort of boat ramp for boat launching. i looked on google map satelite view and its just a parking lot close to the boat launch. right next to 1-35 bridge over the minnesota river in bloomington mn. they never specified what "valuables" were inside the car. do you think wallet, cell phone? what else would someone drive around with. i will pray everyday for Eric and for Sly McCurry.
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't look very good. As of 1/27 there arn't any new leads.
ReplyDelete"Further investigation indicated that Peterson left all of his belongings in the car."

according to the address given by police where the car was parked at 11199 lyndale av s it was maybe 3000 to 4000 feet to the rivers edge/boat launch. address is by some building and larger parking lots. thats good. i want to hope he pkd car & took off with some friend but then why wouldnt he call? didnt want to leave impression his car was right next to water. dont know why ive taken this to heart so much. but he reminds me of my daughters boyfriend.
ReplyDeleteMy word-will this ever end?
ReplyDeleteLisa -again I can't tell you how much I appreciate your hard work-I first found out about these mysterious disappearances/drownings at the Vance Holmes site-I havent been there in awhile and don't know if he is still looking into it.
-These cases or at least many of them-long ago passed the point where they could be explained as accidental and the like to me anyway. Just thinking of a few-who calls on their cell phone disoriented, terrified and says they are being chased-and then subsequently found dead or missing? Who -in the supposedly last drunken suicidal moments of their life or lives would hang their cap and clothes carefully on a statue?
And the questions just keep coming and coming. I will also pray for a good outcome in this case-and for the missing and the dead and their families and friends.

ReplyDeleteHERE IS LINK FOR MISSING PERSON POSTER FOR ERIC PETERSON WITH A NEW PHOTO. YOU CAN PRINT AND POST THESE IN YOUR TOWN.
Hey Lisa,
ReplyDeleteIt was pointed out to me that Eric's headline should read 1/19/2010.
Thanks tfbenjamin for the info. on flyers. I'm going to put some up.
I'd also like to put flyers for all 3 men up at a couple nearby Universities not only to help in finding all three men but to send a message to students to be safe. It sure can't hurt.

ReplyDeleteHeres link for poster for Sly McCurry. Im going to put them in walmarts in wadena & park rapids. I will look for poster for the new guy.
Sorry, that was a typo, I apologize; I was going too fast. I have corrected it!
ReplyDeleteCraig Meyers was at All Star Lanes for a wedding reception before he vanished.
ReplyDeleteSylvester McCurry was at the Stargate Club before he vanished.
There's grafitti on a pillar of the 35W bridge next to the Lyndale Aquaport where they found Eric Peterson's car. It says:
"We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars" written in pink chalk. This was here on January 25, 2010 and is attributed to the Oscar Wilde play "Lady Windermere's Fan." It was in Act III and was spoken by Lord Darlington. At least that's what Wikiquote.org says.
How unnervingly beautiful... i don't think Eric wrote that, though.
ReplyDeleteI know Eric Peterson personally, and I use it in the present to express my utter faith in the fact that he'll be returned to his family and friends. Eric is a deep person with righteous moral values, and I just can't see it in him to commit such atrocities against himself, so please stop insinuating a suicide...
ReplyDeleteI have inquired the Duluth news tribune (Duluth MN) as to why they haven't printed anything on Eric or Jon Lacina since their disappearances were so close to Sly's.
ReplyDeleteWe need to press the press to keep these stories alive!
Went to the MN river yesterday and found new grafitti on the highway 77 (Cedar Avenue) bridge pier on the south bank. There was a lot of references like "Jesus Loves you" and several crosses all painted in yellow and purple. There was an unsmiley face on the side of the pier and there was also the classic smiley face with the slitty eyes. This smiley face was two toned, in purple and yellow. There was some words written on some rocks, one of them being the word "Duck".
ReplyDeleteI had visited this location a week prior and there was grafitti but the smiley faces and the religious grafitti was put there during the last week. This grafitti faces the Minnesota river which has lost its ice cover in the last week. This bridge is the next one down river from the 35W bridge which is where Eric's car was found. Does anyone know if they are still looking? There is so little information on this case.
On Find Eric Peterson facebook page his mother said they are still hoping and praying. Waiting. She said that she knows wherever Eric is he is with God or God is with him. I feel so bad for the families of all these lost and the recovered.
ReplyDeleteI agree there needs to be more media attention! I noticed the link to Matthew Poole missing from Mt. Pleasant, MI. My son goes to CMU and didn't hear anything about this missing man! I was preaching to my son about the dangers of drinking too much then disappearing and he was tuning me out until I saw the info about Matthew and showed it to him. He had no idea and he lives very near to where Matthew went missing.
ReplyDeleteThe media pays too much attention to the "wealthy white blonde women" who go missing, sorry but they do! Not that they shouldn't pay attention but there are so many more that fall off the radar.
Thanks to this site, one can at least get some info.
Through the wonder of FLICKR I can show pics of the pier on the south bank of the Cedar Avenue northbound bridge on the Minnesota River.

ReplyDeleteI saw the pics you posted on flickr. Are you suggesting that Eric Peterson is a victim of the "smiley face killers"?
What is odd about this graffiti is the person/s use both purple and yellow to make a smiley face and then write over their own purple graffiti with yellow. To me, it looks as though someone was just having some fun with paint. I hope they realize it is illegal to deface public property.
ReplyDeleteRemember many years ago when every over-pass on the highway had "Jesus Loves You"?
I would have to agree that it looks like someone just having fun. Although it is wrong, don't think it is a smiley face killer!
ReplyDeleteJon's body was found April 15th, Sylvester's body was just found yesterday, Saturday, May 22nd. I pray that news of Eric's whereabouts is revealed soon. Hopefully with a much better outcome than these two young men. May they rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone checked big cities in neighboring states? Eric's name and face seem incredibly familiar to me, but I am nowhere near Lakeville.
ReplyDeleteTime to bring Eric home. Im hoping for this brother, son and uncle to be found to bring his family at least closure. It is awful when the guys are not found. Just writing to say we have not forgotten Eric.
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering if anyone thought to check the Wildlife Refuge Center near where they found his car. Just wondering.
ReplyDeleteOne of the people commenting seems to want others to see how much he knows about the location and the missing. Interesting.
