Nationwide Investigations team appears on Geraldo At Large

St. Cloud State Professor Lee Gilbertson and retired NYPD detective Kevin Gannon appeared on Geraldo At Large last night, announcing new evidence. While Geraldo Rivera promised that "for the first time ever [Gannon and Gilbertson] are here to reveal who they think the killer or killers are," the pair focused the interview on findings pointing toward murder. Gannon also stated he preferred to not to discuss motive for the time being, perhaps hinting at more announcements to come.

Among the findings announced, was that La Crosse victim Luke Homan was deceased prior to entering the water and fiber transfer evidence was found in a vehicle and on his clothes--all evidence that adds up to homicide, says Gannon. Another revelation was that evidence (scent or personal belongings) of 5 of 8 La Crosse men were found near the 12-foot tall Native American statue in Riverside Park. Six out of 8 victims had last been seen at the same two bars (4 victims at one bar, 2 at another), even though there are 55 bars in La Crosse in that 6 or 7 block radius.

Professor Gilbertson has also done a statistical analysis of the Body Mass Indexes (BMIs) of the victims, which shows the victims were overwhelmingly of normal weight. Gilbertson said this a pattern he would not normally expect to see in a given population, and believes the height and weight may play a role in the selecting of victims. While the interview focused on the La Crosse area, the team says they have found 17 drowning cases Nationwide that were actually homicide.

[Correction: this post originally stated that Homan may have been held some time before entering the water. This was a misinterpretation of the interview. I should have stated that Gannon found that some of the victims were dead before they entered the water, including Homan, and some others were shown to have been held for a period of time. I regret the error.]

  1. Thanks! I haven't watched the clip yet, but will do so.

Also, last night the smiley face killers was the subject of the Coast 2 Coast program.

You can listen to the program at the below link:

I will probably comment more after watching the clip and listening to the coast to coast program.

  2. Geraldo: "Is is Satanic?"

    Gannon: "No, not at all."

    THANK YOU!

I've waited forever to hear somone associated with this to take a stance against the fear-mongering satanic panickers.

One of the reasons I became so skeptical of the smiley face killer theory was seemingly due to the acceptance of the "Satanists did it" pseudo-explanation.

I proud that Gannon said that.

However, not much helpful info was released. There's a sign that read that 17 of the deaths were homicide but no explanation as to how this was concluded.

We just need more info. Back in October we were told that in December (2009) or January (2010)they would realese the name of the group that was supposedly responsible for these deaths. This has yet to have happened.

  3. Thanks for posting Lisa -- it's good to hear that the word is getting out on these, even as far as Fox news. Hopefully public attention will increase.

I'm also glad Gannon didn't mention anything about Satanism, only because doing so automatically seems to switch people off or make it seem like it's another "conspiracy theory" or something. He may in fact have said that to quell any possible mass hysteria and the like. However, no suspect has been identified ( at least not publicly, as BITM states ) and given that religion is something anyone can conceal, I'm not sure how someone can announce with such certainty that there is no such involvement.

Given that there was only a few minutes allowed to discuss this subject, I'm not sure how they were supposed to go on and on about how these cases are homicides. I think common sense alone though pretty much establishes that, as well as linking most of them. How many more Lacrosse men alone should disappear or turn up dead in order for people to accept that conclusion?

Gannon's words seem to make clear that he does not support a "Satanic Cult" explanation. This is perhaps one of the best things he could have said, though I would like to see more of the big-wigs involved in these cases to do more to seperate these deaths from such nonsense as satanic cults.

  5. They mentioned that some victims has been seen last at 2 or 3 of the same bars. Do we know which bars?

    ReplyDelete
  6. That would be interesting to know. Could it be that an employee of at least one of those bars is drugging the alcoholic beverages of some of the victims? That would explain a lot.

  7. there's been another 21 year old, athletic male who drowned in la crosse just this past weekend. it is getting ridiculous! and the la crosse police do not think there is anything going on...just simply that these men are drinking too much. it is hard to be someone living in this city!

  8. I'm not sure exactly about the bars, but I remember a few years ago the last bar Luke Homan was seen at was John's Bar.

  9. Something is definitely not right! Tell me how exactly is it that we get banned from walking home while intoxicated and can get a fine for doing the right thing by not driving and not ONE single cop saw him stumbling through down town la crosse? they are nazis about that kind of stuff! this city is jacked up i tell you!

  10. 5 of the 8 victims had their stuff found at
    that that statue!!! WHAT!?

The BMI spectrum is rather interesting too.

And this hit me hard too:

    Geraldo: "Satanic?"
    Gannon: "No, not at all."

Conclusion: If you're following the original
serial theory and basing it on NWI's evidence,
the specific "smiley face" murder victims have
    nothing to do satanic motives.

  11. to the unspiritual such as boyinthemachine satanism is in a league of its own.
the occult in general is not satanic, indeed to those who dont hold to the truth
    murder is not satanic

    Jesus himself disagrees.

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

  12. so boyinthemachine you rejoice that what you consider The good name of satanism has not been besmirched yet again

  15. 2nd time trying to send this through...

    1. I know in all fairness Gannon can't name the 2 bars that 8 of the victims had visited but it seems many were drinking around 3rd and Pearl. Even more interesting is that Gannon mentioned bars to begin with.

    2. The BMI was not all that impressive. If you freeze the picture the BMIs are variable and all over the place. We are not looking at the general population here, but narrowly focused in on male college students. I would guess a simliar graph (plot) would appear if they plotted all the men in a college bar and this would surely differ from a plot that included females or a different segment of the population.

  16. Monique,

The bars are not always reported in the paper; and sometimes only the bar they were last seen at is mentioned (and any others left out). On my own list (which came from media reports and is available on the posts on this site), I do not see a bar listed twice. However, I would not be surprised if some of these young men had visited more than one bar that night. In La Crosse, there are many bars in close proximity to each other and they offer drink specials.
This tells me that Gannon has uncovered something new, not previously published.

I'm almost wondering what the typical BMI is for a college student and how that compares. Not trying to make generalizations, but more often than not the college kids I see are of healthy weights. Looking at females would be a good comparison too.

    Now confirmed

St Johns Abbey offenders on campus night Joshua dissapeared and present when chris jenkins dissapeared also.

There were sex offenders who were on campus, and known to the public, who weren’t properly investigated in the disappearance of Joshua Guimond. There were also offenders on campus, whose names were not known to the public, who weren’t properly investigated either.

    Now confirmed

Joshua was investigating corruption conspiracy to commit a crime in law at the Abby, in the days before he went missing.

The day after the October 2, 2002 St. Cloud Times’ article about the settlement agreement between St. John’s and several victims, Joshua Guimond performed an Internet search on “St. John’s Abbey” “Statute of Limitations” and “Conspiracy” even though the St. Cloud Times article didn’t mention the statute or anything about a conspiracy.

What Joshua Guimond looking for? We don’t know. Yet.

We do know that many files on Joshua’s hard drive were deleted in the days after he disappeared. Seven years later, the files are slowly being recovered.

A recent search of Joshua’s hard drive includes a cached copy of an October 22, 2002 Star Tribune article “St. John’s launches ad campaign to counter image woes”. The story was dated, and was accessed by Joshua, two weeks before he disappeared.
