09/28/04: Nate Williams, 21, Morris, MN

NATE IS STILL MISSING.
Nate Williams, 21, was last seen leaving his residence on the campus at the University of Minnesota-Morris in the 400 block of E. 10th St. in Morris, MN. He told a roommate he was going on a two-week fishing trip to Two Harbors, MN and would return by October 10, 2004. He was apparently traveling alone. Two days later, sheriff's deputies found his 1966 teal and white Ford F150 pick up truck North of Two Harbors on the Kawishiwi Lake Road (a back road off of County Road 7) in Lake County, Minnesota, near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. He was reported missing October 7 by his family. (See missing poster.)

Nate is described as an avid fisherman, even nicknamed "Fish," who had taken several extended fishing trips before. He is not believed to have committed suicide, but the circumstances of his disappearance are unclear. If you have any information in this case, contact the Morris Police Department at (320) 589-2313.

  1. I noticed browsing through a few of the cases that when eye color was mentioned it was always almost not brown and usually hazel.I have dark hair with hazel eyes and I don't believe that is as common as brown eyes.

  4. Does anyone know what his college major was? Many of the students who disappear like this were engineering and computer science majors.

I have a psychology project about a little known problem capable of causing a mental break for an other wise normal person. It can strike suddenly or build for weeks.

If this did cause this incident he could be a suicide near the point the truck was found. If he survived the onset of the mental break he could have traveled anywhere in the seven years he has been missing.

Experts claim fugue episodes are of short duration but that information comes from those victims that are found. No one knows how many of the long term missing students are fugue victims.

  6. His college major was Chemistry, and I believe he may have been double majoring in Physics as well. He was a very intelligent person (although severely dyslexic). As far as I know, no one in his family is involved in mining.

  7. It's 14 years later, and we still hope details of his disappearance and presumed death will surface. Knowing the Minnesota woods are hardly kind to preservation, we still await a moment of discovery.

    And we remember him.
