Brian W. Sullivan, 19, was last seen at 5:48 am on July 8, 2007 buying breakfast at the Burger King drive-thru window on Chili Ave in Gates, NY.
At 6:10 a.m., "Sully" as he was sometimes known, left a voicemail message for a friend. It was the last time Sullivan was heard from.

Later that day, Sullivan's vehicle, a red 1995 Pontiac Sunfire with New York registration DXU 3048, was found in front of a 100–acre wooded area on nearby Lettington Avenue. A Burger King receipt, stamped at 5:48 a.m., and wrappers were found inside the car, along with Sullivan's cell phone charger and bank card. There were no signs of foul play in or around the car.

Sullivan graduated from Churchville-Chili High School. At the time of his disappearance, he was a student at Monroe Community College. He was considering a career in social work or the music industry and had just ordered hundreds of dollars of sound mixing equipment and was weighing his options.

While Sullivan was unemployed, his family says he was not facing any personal problems and was looking toward the future. The night before he disappeared, he watched a movie at a friend's house and he was looking forward to a big family dinner on 7/8 with his favorite food--ribs. He had also just learned that his sister was expecting a baby and Brian was he was thrilled and excited to be an uncle.

Update 2016: Confidential informants have told investigators that Brian had been stabbed by a male who frequented the Chili Avenue area. The suspect, Derrick Murray, allegedly told acquaintances that Murray stabbed Sullivan several times. Investigators learned through other sources that Murray allegedly enlisted the help of his family to hide Brian's body and car. Murray told one source, "they will never find him if I don't tell them." Murray died of natural causes in 2016 just as police were closing in. 

Update 2024: Law enforcement is still focused on finding Sullivan's remains. In January 2024, investigator Philip Trubia of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said that a Murray family member may have information that could lead to Sullivan's remains--and closure for the family. (Kucko, 2024). 

 The Sullivan family told RochesterFirst.com:

“It’s time for those that do know to give us some peace,” said Barbara Sullivan, Brian’s mother, “We want to bring all of Brian home. Not just bits and pieces. There’s a family that knows. And they should do the right thing,” she said.

12/16/11 (Update): Matthew Huszar, 25, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Footprints has learned that the body of Matthew Huszar was found in January 2014 in False Creek. Our thoughts go out to Matthew and his friends and family.

Matthew Huszar, 25, was last seen December 16, 2011. The 25-year-old University of British Columbia geology grad was last seen outside the Lamplighter Pub at 92 Water Street in Gastown after celebrating with colleagues at a staff Christmas party. No one knows where Huszar went after that. Huszar failed to show up in Victoria the next day to meet his mom as planned, and he missed a post-Christmas visit from his girlfriend who came from the U.S.

Matthew's family stated to the media that his disappearance was out of character. Huszar is normally in frequent contact with his family, having sent his sister Rachael a text just two days before he disappeared. He was also always in touch with his mother, Danny. According to a website set up by the family at the time of his disappearance, Matthew had "no known mental-health or substance-abuse issues and has good relationships with family and friends." Additionally, friends said Huszar was not intoxicated on the night he was last seen, and he was in good spirits. He told his mother just that morning that he was excited about going to Vancouver Island to spend Christmas with his family.

There was no evidence that Huszar was a victim of criminal actions or suicide, or that he left town voluntarily. Despite been reported sightings of Matthew on SkyTrain and the SeaBus, his mother Danny told the Vancouver Sun  that no one had heard from her son.

“The hardest part is just not knowing,” Danny told the paper. “It just seems very bizarre that a person can disappear from a street in Vancouver and nobody has seen or heard anything."

The police said in January 2012 that they had no new leads.

“We’re very frustrated and frightened by the lack of any information whatsoever," said Danny. "We’re asking the public’s help for any information, no matter how insignificant.”

Huszar's mother, father and sister offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to Matthew. They had hoped the reward would help trigger some information about what happened to Matthew. The family had been in constant contact with the police after Matthew's disappearance and with Huszar’s friends launched a poster and social media campaign, and a website to generate tips.


Recovery

In January 2014, two years after his disappearance, Vancouver Police announced that Matthew's body had been found in a marina in False Creek on Dec. 31. Vancouver Police divers collected evidence as part of their investigation. Police said there was no indication of anything suspicious in his death and foul play was not suspected.

According to the Canadian Press, "Coroner Barb McLintock says it appears Huszar died shortly after leaving a Gastown pub on Dec. 16, 2011. She says it's still unknown how and why Huszar reached the marina, two kilometres away, and in the opposite direction from his home. "

A cause of death has not been reported.

Matthew Huszar, a self-described "rock head," had graduated with an honors degree in geology from the University of British Columbia. Originally from Lethbridge, he had had moved to the Vancouver area to attend schoolto study at the University of British Columbia and was excited about moving up in his career as a geologist. 10/21/05: Daniel Trautman, 27, Columbus, OH

Do you have any information in this homicide?

Daniel Trautman disappeared eight years ago today. His homicide is unsolved.

Daniel Trautman, a 27-year-old loan officer from Columbus, Oh. was last seen leaving Woo Doggies Bar and Grill in the greater Columbus area between 3 and 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 21, 2005. 

The now defunct bar was located at 5257 WestPointe Plaza Drive in Hilliard, near the WestPointe Shopping Plaza. The area is about 15 minutes West of Columbus. Trautman was last seen near Hilliard-Rome Road, which is about a block from the bar.

Four days later, his mother, Carolyn Mills, found his car in the bar's parking lot and reported him missing.

According to reports, a bar employee told the authorities that Trautman left the bar with two other men that night, one of whom was an acquaintance of his and one whom was not. Neither of the two men have told police anything valuable. 

The police processed Daniel's clothes for DNA evidence, and conducted searches of homes, vehicles, and the bar several times without result.

On a warm, sunny day one week later, on Oct. 29, a farmer harvesting corn discovered Daniel's body in a field about 50 feet off Carters Mill Road in eastern Madison County. Daniel's bank card and $3 were found in the pocket of his jeans.

The body had sustained injuries to his head, and it was impossible to tell what kind of weapon was used. The cause of death was head trauma. The Madison County sheriff's office speculated that Trautman was killed on the night he disappeared, then his body left in the cornfield after having been dragged, carried or tossed from a nearby pull-off where his killers most likely parked their vehicle.

Authorities think Daniel was probably killed the night he was last seen, but the motive is unknown. They say he had no known enemies, owed no one money and that drugs were not a factor.

But he was drunk that night, and something happened.

"We have looked at every possible angle," said detective Bill Gillette, a homicide detective with the Columbus Division of Police. "Of everything we've looked at, nothing is leading us to a particular path," Gillette said. "That's the frustrating part." (Columbus Dispatch, 10/26/05.)

Marty Balfour is missing.

Martin Balfour, 26, was reported missing to the police on December 30, 2001, two days after he was last seen by his roommate. He was living in an apartment in the 12000 block of Harris Road, and he left his home sometime before 9:00 a.m. December 28, 2001. His car, a blue 1983 Toyota Supra, was found parked by police on December 31st, 2001, but there has not been any sign of Balfour.

Sgt. Pat Walsh of the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment said that after two days of searching the bush along the Fraser River with 30 people, dogs and helicopters, he concluded there was little hope of finding Balfour in the immediate area.

02/20/10: Eugene Losik, 25, Boston, MA

 Update 11/29/10: It is with deep sadness that I must report that a body found earlier this month in Boston Harbor was been identified as Gene Losik. The medical examiner was not able to determine a cause and manner of death.

Gene's body was recovered from Rowe's Wharf on Nov. 8.

According to the family's official Web site, a "Celebration of Life service will be held December 3, 2010, from 4-7 pm, at the Indian Ridge Country Club, 73 Lovejoy Road, Andover, MA." A virtual memorial has also been created for Gene.

Gene's Story
Eugene "Gene" Losik, 25, of Lawrence, was last seen in the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 20 near the Marriot Long Wharf at 296 State St. in Boston. At 2:24 a.m., Losik was spotted on camera stepping out through the back door of the hotel. He has not been seen since.

Gene Losik had gone to the city to celebrate a friend's birthday at Sissy K's Bar in Faneuil Hall. They spent the evening drinking and dancing. At around midnight, Losik, his girlfriend of four years, Caitlin McGovern, and some friends went back to the Marriot Long Wharf where they were staying. McGovern turned in for the night, while Losik decided to stay up with friends. McGovern said that Losik did not seem overly intoxicated when she went to bed at midnight. Keilty, who saw him two hours later, agreed. He reported that he was in quite alert, speaking clearly, and in good spirits. "There was nothing out of the ordinary. If he had been too intoxicated I wouldn't have left him."

One friend, Rick Keilty, told police that the two men went for a walk. The family's website indicates that Losik and Keilty were seen on surveillance cameras returning to the hotel at about 1:15 a.m. They then played cards in another friend's room. It has been reported that Losik had his wallet, cell phone and keys. At about 2:10 a.m., Keilty left to take a cab home.

At 2:24 a.m., Losik was seen on camera leaving the hotel through the back entrance without his coat or hat. See map. Friends believe he may have been stepping outside for a cigarette when he wandered off.  "The back entrance puts you into Christopher Columbus Park," McGovern said, "near Tia's restaurant. But there are tons of people going in and out of the hotel until 4 a.m. If something had happened there, someone would have seen him."

McGovern said that her boyfriend's cell phone had run out of charge and he only had about $20 in his wallet. He was also not familiar with the area.

Losik's girlfriend noticed he had not returned when she woke up at 6 a.m. Saturday and filed a missing persons report at about 11:30 a.m. Phone calls to his cellphone have gone unanswered, she told police. She is hoping that he simply got locked out of the hotel or maybe took the train back to Lawrence. A friend is staying in the couple's apartment in case Losik shows up."I don't know what happened," said a teary and emotional McGovern in an interview with The Eagle-Tribune last night. She said she sort of hopes he is in an area hospital, perhaps suffering from memory loss or lying unconscious in a hospital bed, where staff may not know his identity.  

About Gene Losik
Losik is described as "extremely bright, very rational and very resourceful" and "had no enemies at all." He is a graduate of UMass-Amherst works as an electrical engineer at Raytheon in Andover and was up for a promotion. He is a 2003 graduate of North Andover High School. He lives with Catlin McGovern, his girlfriend of four years, in the Washington Mills apartment complex on Canal Street in Lawrence. Losik had told his father he planned to marry McGovern in the next year.

The Search for Gene Losik

While the police are treating it as a missing persons' case, a Boston police dive team initially searched the waters around the hotel. They found no indication he might be there.

A large scale search was conducted on March 2 that included over 50 divers, search boats, sonar equipment, underwater cameras, and helicopters. The search turned up no trace of Gene or any evidence that he was ever in the water.
On March 4, it was reported to the media that Losik's sent was found near the water. According to the dog handler, "Clothing belonging to Gene were given to the handler. Scent pads were made from gauze pads placed inside of Gene's clothing, which later were used as Gene's scent articles for my K9. Later, at the door where Gene exited the hotel, the K9 was given Gene's scent article. The K9 immediately took trail and went from the back door of the hotel, onto the large docks and to one small dock, where the K9 indicated that the person had gone into the water. After this LIVE SCENT trail ended, the K9 was changed to work 'cadaver' and an alert was given right there, as well as multiple places leading outward towards the bay. This entire process was repeated multiple times (7 times), with the exact same results, even when the K9 worked the entire trailing and cadaver process(es) off lead."

The family has created a website, http://www.findgenelosik.com/ which will be posting updates on the search effort and had offered a $12,000 reward in his disappearance.

04/25/10: Josh Blahna, 26, Kensal, ND

Twenty-six-year-old Josh Blahna was last seen on Sunday, April 25, 2010. Blahna disappeared after he blew a tire and pulled off the road just outside his mother's rural home about 10 miles northwest of Kensal, ND.

After Josh Blahna disappearance, posters were hung, a Facebook page was created, and Josh's family posted a $10,000 reward for information leading to his discovery. Officials and volunteers were also out searching for the young man.

On Wednesday, April 28, authorities found Blahna’s car near his mother’s farm and tracks leading to the nearby James River. One of Blahna's shoes was found near the river, and it was identified by his mother. The shoe was also not far from his mother's house. Further search efforts by water and air on Wednesday were hampered by cold temperatures and strong winds. Spring flooding had also created high water and strong currents in the James River, making a river search unsafe. Crews were only able comb the banks of the river on all-terrain vehicles.

The following day, searchers returned to drag the river, yet the seven hour search turned up nothing.

On Monday, May 3, The Red River Search and Rescue dog unit joined Dakota Search and Rescue Dogs in the search for Blahna. The search for Blahna was ongoing until May 10, 2010, when Blahna's body was found in the James River by family members at about 11-a.m.

The case perplexed local sheriff, Mike Tufte, who told WDAY News 6, “This just doesn't happen like this here.” The paper reported, "Tufte says it's been more than 20 years since Foster County has had a drowning. That one was accidental, he's not so sure about this one. If there was foul play, Tufte says family members don't know who would be behind it. They tell him Joshua had no enemies."

The body was found in Foster County about nine miles northwest of Kensal, ND. The location was a mile and a half south of where he is believed to have entered the river. After it was recovered, it was sent to the North Dakota Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.

 

On May 12, 2010, the Foster County sheriff announced that the death had been ruled an accident. Preliminary autopsy results showed that Joshua Blahna drowned.

"Joshua James Blahna is the son of James Blahna and Donna (Hoffman) Mack, and was born on June 11, 1983, in Carrington, ND. He was raised and attended school at Kensal, graduating in 2002. Josh attended Moorhead Tech and recently was farming with his father and brother, Jeremiah, in the Kensal and Carrington areas. Josh worked on wind tower construction near Valley City, ND, and in Iowa, and installed fiber optic underground cable near Jamestown, ND. He was a hard worker.
Josh liked hunting, boating, fishing, was a great downhill skier and had awesome boxing abilities - he was like greased lightening! He worked at body building and weight lifting. He especially enjoyed hanging out with his friends and had a special relationship with his brother, Jeremiah and sister, Casey. Josh was very proud of Jeremiah and Casey, they had many good times camping, cowboying and wrestling. Casey made special gifts just for Josh that he loved.
Josh loved to travel and wanted to see the world. One of his favorite stories he told his friends was about teasing crazy cows- he’d laugh because the cows couldn’t catch him. He loved all animals and couldn’t pass by a lamb or newborn calf without petting it and marveling at how soft it was.
He will be remembered most for his wonderful smile, big heart and his defense of those in need of help. He is home now with Jesus, but will always be here in the hearts of those that loved him. He is a special person who leaves us- On the Wings of Eagles!

10/26/03: Gregory Cyr, 41, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Greg Cyr, 41, of Vancouver BC, was last seen or in contact with family on October 26, 2003. He left his girlfriend’s residence in the downtown area of Vancouver to meet a man for coffee. He called her a few times to say he would be later than expected. The last call was made approximately at 1:00 p.m.

Cyr has not been heard from since that time and this is very unusual for him. He has a young child, James, that he is very close to. The boy's mother, Miriam Byrne, who is Cyr's ex-wife said, "was an extremely committed father whose world revolved around his son."

In 2008, Cyr's ex-wife, Byrne, made a plea to the media for someone to tell tell her what happened to Cyr, for the sake of their son. She told reporters at a Vancouver police briefing, "Greg and I share a wonderful, spirited 10-year-old son who deserves a future free of the burden of not knowing what happened to his dad.

Since his disappearance in 2003, Cyr's father also passed away suddenly and his mother became ill, so his family has been desperate to find him.

Gregory Cyr is 6'2-6'3," 183-194 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair and a noticable 4" scar on his left cheek. He was last seen wearing a light-coloured baseball cap, a sweater and jeans. A $25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to finding him.


Greg is deeply loved by his grieving mother, his brothers and sister, nephews and nieces, and his large extended family who say, "if anyone has any information that would help us to contact him, we would be deeply grateful.”

03/19/08: Kellen McElwee, 25, Langley, BC, Canada

Help bring Kellen McElwee home
Kellen Charles McElwee, 25, was last seen March 19, 2008 about 9 p.m. after leaving the Keg restaurant in Langley, B.C., east of Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. He had been having dinner with some friends. He was parked at the nearby Colossus movie complex and spoke to friends by cellphone as he drove off.

Several days later, McElwee's bronze 2006 Honda Civic, 4 door was found abandoned on a quiet residential street---the 5100 block of Halifax Street--in Burnaby, British Columbia, a couple of miles from his apartment.

09/30/06: Aaron Derbyshire, 22, Kelowna, BC, Canada

Aaron Derbyshire is missing.

Aaron Charles Derbyshire, 22, was last seen on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at approximately 1:40 a.m. at Level Night Club (formally known as Splashes Night Club) located on Leon Avenue in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.

Derbyshire was at the club with a group of friends who last saw him went they went outside to investigate a fight outside the club. Derbyshire remained inside, and he has not been seen since.

Police have since said that they have received no credible tips placing Derbyshire at any other location after the bar.

Derbyshire's family reported him missing when he failed to show up for a planned rafting trip.

According to The Province (12/26/06), "police have said they have no explanation for his disappearance and that he was not known to be involved with any illicit business. Also perplexing is that Aaron left his cellphone in his truck, which he parked at home, before going to the Level nightclub in downtown Kelowna. His mom said it was unusual for him to leave his phone behind since he always carried it with him. Aaron was carrying a bank draft for $6,500 made out in the name of a man from whom he was going to buy a Ski-Doo. But the draft was never cashed. His bank account has not been touched either."

In 2009, club owner Karli Wilson told Kelowna.com that staff members working on the night of Derbyshire's disappearance were never formally interviewed by police, making it impossible to know for sure what they may have seen. Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Const. Steve Holmes confirmed that no such interviews took place, but said that Wilson was given a photo of Derbyshire and asked to show it to staff to see if anyone recalled seeing him. “None of them recognized Aaron from the picture,” Holmes related. “None of them had any information, so none of them were interviewed.” Holmes said Wilson was told to phone police if any tips came in. None were reported. Wilson says she does not recall this exchange.

Wilson also says police never took the bar’s surveillance tapes from that night. But this is disputed by Holmes. “Our guy talked to the manager and we confirmed their video surveillance was not working, because they were in the process of upgrading it. So we had nothing to go on for video surveillance.”

According to the Kelowna.com article, "Wilson insisted the footage existed, but noted it would have automatically been erased after four days. Holmes said investigators went to the club on Oct. 3, 2006, the day they learned Derbyshire had been at the bar, which is at the limit of the four-day grace period."

The article notes that Wilson had been trying to battle "negative perceptions about her club in the wake of the missing persons investigation."

Aaron Derbyshire is the second of four boys in a tight-knit family. His mother, Glenda, told the Kelowna Capital News that she and her husband were high school sweethearts, both from large families themselves, who got married and started a family right away. "Our children, we believe, are a blessing to us," she said. She described Aaron as an amazing young man with a wonderful future ahead of him, and said she and his family miss him every day. She added that it is out of character for their son to go missing and, "there's no reason that anybody would want to hurt him."

Aaron is described as "a vibrant, handsome and loving young man who has everything in life going for him. He is an avid snowboarder, golfer, bmx biker, soccer player, and technologist working as a land surveyor."

According to a Facebook page about Aaron, "Aaron Charles Derbyshire was a happy, young boy when he became very sick at the age of 8. In and out of Children's Hospital frequently, Aaron was eventually diagnosed with Crohn's Disease (severe inflammation of the intestinal tract). This disease limited his ability to grow up healthy, enjoying all the activities that most children do on a regular basis. Aaron almost died during this time. Aaron was homeschooled most of his life, however, he became well enough to go back to high school in grade 11. At this point, he started recovering quite well and fit in right away with everyone he met. He graduated from Civil Engineering 3 years ago at this time and was heading into a very promising life. However, this was all shattered when he went missing from Kelowna on September 29th, 2006. Words cannot explain our loss, and for anyone who knew Aaron or had the chance to run into him at some point in their lives, it is a complete shock to have him gone. (December 19, 2007)."

03/02/10: Jonathan Dorey, 22, Richmond, VA

Jonathan Dorey is missing.

Jonathan "Jonny" Dorey, an exchange student attending Virginia Commonwealth University was last seen March 2 leaving his campus dormitory at the Gladding Residence Center with his mountain bike at 11:19 a.m. Since then, neither Dorey or his mountain bike has been seen.

It appears that the last class Dorey attended was Tuesday morning (3/2), and he last used his cell phone that morning. The phone is apparently turned off.

The last purchase he is known to have made also was Tuesday morning at a 7-Eleven.

VCU police Capt. Grant Warren said, "We wish we had more to go on."

Dorey, who is from Guernsey, a small island in the English Channel, attends Great Britain's University of the West of England and was on an exchange to VCU. He was studying geography.

Dorey was reported missing on March 4 by friends. His friends and family say it is out of character fot he young man to leave without telling anyone where he was going.

Police said they do not suspect foul play.


The Search for Jonathan Dorey

During the search for Dorey, University police have worked with Richmond police, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Virginia State Police, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the American Red Cross.

Dorey has been described as an experienced mountain biker. Search efforts have focused on bicycle trails near the James River in Richmond.
On March 16, VCU Police released photos captured by a security camera on March 2 outside of Gladding Residence Center. The surveillance cameras show Dorey leaving the lobby of his dorm with his bicycle.

Dorey's bike is a black single-speed bicycle with an Azonic Steelhead frame, an SDG Bel-Air seat, Race Face lock-on grips, DMR V8 pedals and Kenda tires. It has a black seat with a red stripe down the middle.

Dorey is 6 feet tall, weighs 180 pounds, has brown hair and speaks with a British accent. He was last seen wearing a blue and white plaid jacket with a hood and dark blue jeans. Dorey wears glasses. He was carrying a navy blue Eastpak ruckpak.

VCU and the University of the West of England, Dorey's home university, are offering a combined $10,000 reward for any information leading to Dorey's location.


Belongings found

On March 23, Dorey's backback containing some personal belongings was found near his clothes at Rockett's Landing near Dock and Pear Streets. The items were found by a passerby. The following month, Dorey's parents made the announcement that an empty bottle of gin had also been found at the site.

The area is a popular fishing spot, and the items were reportedly in a hollow area under a large concrete pad beside the north bank of the river. After the discovery, Richmond rescue dive teams searched the nearby James River until 5:30 p.m. and again the following day.

Dorey's parents, Alan and Debbie Dorey, and his brother Simon have flown to the US to help in the search. A Facebook group has also been created to appeal for information; at last count it had 24,635 members.

In April 2010, a witness came forward to say he believed he saw a man fitting Jonny's description swimming in the river on the afternoon Jonny went missing. According to the Charley Project, the weather that day was rainy and mixed with snow.

In September 2011, Dorey's parents planted a tree on the VCU campus in their son's memory. They have stated that they believe he was depressed and committed suicide by drinking a bottle of gin and jumping into the James River.

"Combined with information we got from the Internet sites and writings that we found by the FBI on Jonny's computer - leads us to believe that Jonny died of a suicide or a reckless act as the result of a mental breakdown..." said Debbie Dorey during a brief news conference outside of Harris Hall.
On March 3, 2011, after the one-year anniversary of Dorey's disappearance, a spokesman for VCU Police told NBC12.com that the investigation is still open.

Kyle Fleischmann is still missing. 

On Thursday, November 8, 2007, 24-year old Kyle Fleischmann caught Dane Cook's stand-up act at Bobcats Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Fleischmann's mother and sister were also in the audience. When the show ended, Fleischmann  and his friends walked to Buckhead Saloon, where he met up with his family.

After the gathering, Fleischmann's friends and family left Buckhead Saloon while Kyle stayed behind. The Saloon's security camera captured images of the 24-year-old exiting the bar alone around 2:20 a.m. He left his coat behind at the saloon and the weather that night was chilly. He also did not have his credit card.

The last sighting of Kyle took place around 2:25 am, when Kyle was seen buying pizza at Fuel Pizza at the uptown location. An employee told police Kyle came in by himself, but the restaurant got very crowded shortly thereafter. The employee never saw Kyle leave.

Kyle then apparently made two phone calls around 3:30 am to his best friend and roommate. He did not leave any messages. Police say the activity on his cell phone was concentrated in the uptown Charlotte area and the First Ward area. His cell phone activity ended around 4:00 a.m. and his cell phone has been off since. All calls made to his cell phone since then have gone straight to voicemail.

Kyle has not returned to his car or his home. There has been no usage of his bank funds since his disappearance.


The Search for Kyle

On November 13, 2007 they conducted a massive search effort, starting at the Buckhead Saloon where he was last seen. A foot search for Fleishmann took place Saturday, November 17 starting at the Charlotte Fire Department at 228 E. Ninth Street. Firefighters and nearly 300 volunteers including Fleischmann’s family and friends combed a 9 mile area around Charlotte until around 4 p.m. Search dogs were also brought in to follow the scent from the jacket Kyle left behind at the bar. Reports have indicated that dogs have led searchers to creek beds. Kyle's friends created a webpage and Facebook page and appeared on The Today Show to help get the word out. His sister, Noelle, appeared on Fox News.

A private reward has been established through the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers Program. 11/02/07: Justin Gaines, 18, Duluth, GA

Justin Gaines is still missing.

Justin Gaines, a well-liked 18-year-old, attending Gainesville State College was last seen at 1:30 am at Wild Bills Night Club in Duluth, GA near Gwinnett Place Mall in Gwinnett County. He was wearing a gray Abercrombie long sleeve shirt, ripped blue jeans and white tennis shoes. Justin may use an alias name.

 went to a nightclub with friends in Duluth, GA on November 2, 2007. He was last seen around 2 a.m. after he was unable to get a ride home.

On November 1, 2007, Justin came home from Athens, Ga. around 8 p.m. He then changed his clothes and left for a friend's house around 8:30 p.m. Justin and his friends decided to go out to Wild Bill's, one of Justin's favorite bars in Duluth, GA. It is advertised as "18 to party, 21 to drink," but Justin reportedly had two fake ID's--one with the name Brad Allen and the other with the name Brad Shewe.

Surveillance video shows he arrived at exactly 11:38 p.m. Eyewitnesses last saw Justin around 1 a.m. at the bar. Then Justin called his roommate around 2 a.m. for a ride. His roommate was not able to pick him up. Ultimately, Justin left the bar sometime between 2 and 2:30 a.m. A parking lot attendant said Justin had found a ride, but he has not been heard from since.

The Search for Justin

Justin is normally good about checking in with his family, so by Sunday Justin's mom, Erika Wilson, was worried. She got in touch with his friends and tried local medical facilities but found no trace of her son. Justin's car, wallet and laptop were left at his parent's home. Police initially tried to track Justin's cell phone signal and looked over any relevant video surveillance from the night Justin disappeared. The battery is no longer charged.

Investigators are now working leads that may support evidence that Justin met with foul play that night.

Bradley Olsen, 26, was last seen looking for a ride home from a bar in DeKalb, IL at 2:25 a.m. He has not been seen or heard from since, and investigators have found little information about what happened to him.

Olsen's friends had picked him up on Jan. 19 at the Maple Park, IL home he shared with his parents. After a night on the town at Bar One in DeKalb (1000 W. Lincoln Hwy), his friends--a married couple, his mother recalled--left early while Olsen stayed behind. At closing time, he called a friend for a ride home. (He last used his cell phone at 2:24 a.m., police said.) The friend was unable to pick him up. The last anyone remembers seeing him was about 2:25 a.m. on Jan. 20 when he was trying to find a ride home. It was a very cold night, with temperatures dipping close to zero degrees Fahrenheit. He is still missing. As of now, police have no new leads on his whereabouts.

Something has definitely happened to him because he lived here with us,” his mother, Sue Olsen said. “There was never a 48-hour period where we didn't know where Brad was. Even whenever we would go out of town, he'd always call.”

Sue and Bill describe Brad as an active sports fan “who lived every day to the fullest.” He enjoyed playing soccer, football and baseball while growing up in Maple Park. After graduating Kaneland High School, he worked in a construction business with his brother.“ Bill comes from a very large family right here in Maple Park,” Sue Olsen said. “He had a lot of cousins, four (of them) the same age. We have a pretty tight-knit family.” Brad also has a 7-year old daughter who "misses him a lot."

The Search

About 325 people searched DeKalb County on March 19 for Brad. Volunteers used planes, all-terrain vehicles, horses and canoes to scour the county, while focusing on an area in which Brad's cell phone signal relayed off two towers. The Olsens hired a helicopter for the search. Maple Park Fire Chief Kevin Peterson coordinated the search using grids that arranged volunteers in a way that covered most of DeKalb County, his father, Bill Olsen, said. Many of the people who came did not know the Olsens before learning about Brad's disappearance. Brad Olsen has not been found.

According to the Northern Star Online, the DeKalb Police Department is still actively investigating the case, said Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department. Spangler said foul play is potentially involved based on the time Olsen has been missing.

“If he went somewhere voluntarily, chances are we would have gotten some information that he was okay,” said Spangler. “Generally the longer a person is missing, the more chance it is going to be foul play involved.”

Several people have been given polygraphs in the case, but no one has been named a suspect.

Olsen was legally declared dead in 2010, but Lt. Spangler has said that the case will stay open until Olsen is located.

04/01/06: Brian Shaffer, Columbus, OH

BRIAN SHAFFER IS STILL MISSING.
On the night of Friday, March 31 2006; Brian Shaffer, a 27 year old 2nd year medical student at OSU went out with friends to have a few drinks and celebrate the beginning of Spring break 2006. Brian and his friends are seen in the surveillance tape at 1:15 am outside of the Ugly Tuna Saloona. Brian is seen again at 1:55 talking with two girls at the top of the escalator. He appears to say 'bye' and turns towards the bar, he then disappears from the camera's view. He has not been seen since.

Whereabouts Unknown
At around 9:30pm, the men headed to the Ugly Tuna Saloona, a bar located near the OSU campus. At 9:56pm, Brian called Alexis -his girlfriend- who at the time was visiting her family in Toledo, OH. He told her he loved her and that he would see her when she came back to Columbus; the two had planned on taking a vacation to Miami and were scheduled to leave for Florida on Monday, April 3rd. Shortly after talking to Alexis, Brian and his friend walked down to the Arena District in Columbus, OH; they stopped at the North Short Tavern and then went to Brother's where they met with other friends. One of the friends drove them back to the Ugly Tuna Saloona, where they are seen in the surveillance tape at 1:15 am. The next time Brian is seen on cameras, he was outside of the Ugly Tuna, at the top of the escalator, talking with two girls; he appears to say 'bye' and turns towards the bar, he then disappears from the camera's view and has not been seen since.

The Search and Investigation
Numerous searches have been conducted including the construction area by the Ugly Tuna Saloona, numerous locations close to his disappearance including help from Texas Equusearch and numerous search agencies in the Ohio area but to no avail. At one point, the police were looking for an individual seen on the escalator (the man with the orange sweater) - this has been ruled out and not considered linked to Brian's case. Conversations have been had with the 2 girls who were outside the bar speaking with Brian but they were not able to provide any additional information to help locate Brian.
A reward of up to $25,500 is currently been offered for information leading to the whereabouts of Brian R. Shaffer.

I am saddened to report that the remains of Anthony "Tony" Luzio Jr.  have been found. 

After an extensive 9-1/2 year search covering many of the county's 1,000 bodies of water, Tony's car was found submerged in a lake in October 2014.

According to the Daily Mail.com:

Dennis and Tammy Watters who own Team Watters Sonar Search and Recovery in Moro, Illinois travelled to Delaware County eight times over the past year to help search for Luzio and in that time became close to Luzio parents Carla and Anthony Sr. The heartbroken parents along with the Watterses looked for ponds that could hide a car and be driven into from a road. They used geographic-information-systems technology to search for bodies of water that back in 2005 would have had no obstacles like trees or fences around them.

The search company, which relies largely on donations, found the car using a small boat equipped with sonar. A fire department diver confirmed it was Luzio's car. The clothing matched what the missing man was last seen wearing and his driver's license was inside the car.

Police believe he drove off the roadway.

Full Story:

Anthony J. Luzio Jr., called Tony, by his friends, was last seen on July 4, 2005 after leaving a party. He never made it home to his apartment. 

Tony was described as a loyal friend with a great sense of humor who enjoyed playing cards with his friends, especially blackjack. On the evening of July 3, 2005, Tony Luzio Jr. left his home to play cards at a friend's house. At around 11:30 p.m., Tony and the group of friends stopped at a local hangout to meet up with some additional friends. They stayed until 2:30 a.m. on July 4, then headed over to party at a friend's home near Rutherford Road and Sawmill Parkway, less than 1 mile from Tony's residence in Powell, Ohio. Witnesses say they saw Tony leaving the party at around 4 a.m., and that he was intoxicated. Friends assumed he was heading back to his apartment, even though he had given the key to one of his friends. It was the last time that anyone saw the young man.

On July 4, Tony was supposed to work at The Limited Brands Inc. at 12 p.m., where he worked the third shift as security. He never showed up for work, and his family has not heard from him. Tony's family says that missing work and not being in touch with his parents is extremely out of character for him. When Tony's  father, Anthony Luzio Sr., could not locate his son, he called the local police department and reported him missing.

Tony's disappearance has been featured on America's Most Wanted twice, but the case is still in need of new leads from the public.

Tony was a 1998 graduate of Olentangy High School. He went on to attend Ohio State University and Franklin University. He was an avid reader, gifted writer and artist and was family oriented. He enjoys travels to Florida with his family and going to see the Cleveland Indians spring training camp with his father. It would not be like him to disappear.


The Search for Tony Luzio Jr.

Police have searched the nearby Scioto River and surrounding wooded areas. They have found no trace of Tony or his car. Tony had limited funds at the time he disappeared and there has been no activity on his bank account or his cell phone.

Tony's father, Anthony Luzio, Sr. is a 31-year-veteran with the Columbus Police Department in Ohio. He has told the media that he never suspected that he would one day be on the other side of the fence.

"Because of my profession, you tend to think the worst has happened," Sgt. Tony Luzio Sr. said. "We certainly hope that's not the case here and that he's just having some issues that we need to deal with," says Anthony Luzio, Sr. I've dealt with this situation in my career numerous times, and always thought that I could feel what people felt," he said. "I just can't explain the pain."

"We will take care of him, no matter what," said Tony's mother, Carla Luzio. "We just love him so much and we miss him so much, and he needs to come home. Because we're having a hard time going on without him, and we really, really need him. And we need the public's help."

The car also has a Bush-Cheney sticker on the rear window and a Fraternal Order of Police medallion on the rear plate.
Reward: There is a $100,000 reward being offered for information about Tony's disappearance.
